From Madison Ave to Look Ave
My goal with this blog has always been to use it as a platform to inspire others. It is crucial to me to be authentic and transparent for my readers so you trust me. I love writing about my styling process, my fashion influences, and how I cope (and sometimes fail to cope) with my busy life as a working mama in NYC. But, I’m realistic. I know many people land on this site and simply want to be able to click and buy what they see in the photos. I totally get that and so I want to tell you about a new platform that is changing the game for influencer generated content.
This is the age of online shopping simply because of access and convenience. I live in one of the shopping capitals of the world, but still shop online 90% of the time because it’s too easy not to. Why venture to Madison Avenue when every store is at my fingertips any time of day or night? That being said, there is a tradeoff to not actually touching and trying things on before we place them in our digital carts. We see photos of models in perfectly pressed clothing and imagine how it will look on us and how it will translate in our real lives. I don’t know about you, but so many times, I feel deceived by these shiny images when I open the packages to discover creased, ill-fitting garments. I probably send back 65% of what I order online, and I am okay with that because I am generally thrilled with the other 35%—the trick is to just package the rejects back up send them off right away!
I think part of the reason the blogger culture has become so successful in the consumer world is because of the relatability aspect. If you see an item I am wearing in a post, not only do you see how it looks on a real person, but you see multiple angles of it, you see how I interpret it based on my personal style, and you can engage with me about what I like or dislike about it. This is a much fuller picture (no pun intended) of the item than you would get if you went directly to an online shop and saw a flat product shot with dimensions and a price. Which brings me to Look Avenue.
Look Avenue is a new digital shopping platform that allows influencers to each create our own exclusive storefronts featuring curated items we like, photos of us wearing the items in multiple ways with multiple angles, and honest product reviews written by us for you. You can shop the product directly from the images. I want you to know that I am not being paid to endorse this company. I think the concept is brilliant and the logical next step in this digital age of shopping. I am excited to be a part of it with my very own storefront! Check it out here and happy shopping!
