Little Darling
Memorial Day has come and gone and after what seems like the longest, coldest, loneliest, transition from winter, "here comes the sun"...allegedly. We are looking at a weekend filled with sunshine, and what better way to greet it than with a little white dress and some glistening accessories?
My summer style has been so inspired by the latest ads for Dolce & Gabbana. I love the piles of jewels, the oversized head scarfs, the ornate sunglasses...it's an accessories extravaganza! All of these elaborate pieces shouldn't work when paired together and that's exactly why they do. It's committed. It's excessive. It's unapologetic.
Let's also discuss this Dolce-inspired hair. My little hair goddess, Devori, somehow managed to repurpose my Erickson Beamon earrings as hair accessories and fashioned up a perfectly undone braided chignon. After years of wearing my hair the same way, I've started to become more experimental. My dad always told me to wear my hair down to every dance in high school. He said, "Trust me, your date will thank you for not looking like a rooster with some facacta up-do." He was right, but I'm making up for lost time now. I wore it down for prom, my wedding, and every major occasion in between. Hair trends do come on strong and leave us laughing when they go, but why not play around in the moment? It will give us something to make fun of later. And Dad, I hate to break it to you, but those 10-inch running shorts and tube socks you rocked from 1978-1992 are really not timeless. And I couldn't be happier to have the countless photos of all of your on-trend, leg-baring moments--hours of entertainment.
