Lizzy In Izzy
My husband and I just returned from an amazing trip to Israel. I feel rejuvenated, revived, and refreshed! Israel is the place where I really feel like the best version of myself. We hadn’t been there for five years and I forgot how electrifying this place can be. I love the energy of New York City, but Israel, particularly Jerusalem, has a unique intensity that is hard to explain unless you actually experience it. There’s no better place for the soul.
On our vacation I was so impressed to learn about the vibrant, growing fashion industry in Israel. I had a lovely time exploring the local boutiques, design fairs, and flea markets. I was blown away by the artistry and passion from the designers and curators I met. I also scored some breathtaking jewels! I hope to do an extensive guide of the best shopping in Israel very soon. I am featuring a photo diary of our trip here and I have linked most of the outfits I am wearing so you can shop my looks. But, before I get to that, I want to talk a bit more about my relationship with Israel.
I first went to Israel on a Birthright trip when I was 18, the summer before I started college. I fell in love with the country and, like so many, had the inexplicable feeling that I was home. When it was time to leave, I knew that even though I couldn’t live in Israel, I was deeply tied to this land and wanted to preserve that attachment. I spent a year in Israel after college and then another 6 months there with Ira after we got married. We are both extremely devoted to Israel and want to do whatever we can to support and protect our homeland.
This trip, I realized it was time to do more for the place that has done so much for me. I had heard about the organization, AIPAC, and knew that their mission to keep the relationship between America and Israel strong while doing whatever they can to protect Israel, aligned with my own personal ideologies. I was fascinated to learn how AIPAC uses its voice to educate members of U.S. Congress, politicians, policy makers, media professionals, student activists, and community leaders about the importance of the bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Israel.
I am thrilled to announce that AIPAC has recently founded a Fashion, Beauty, Retail, & Communications Division that I am honored to be a part of. I know I am only one of many people who have dual passions for fashion and Israel, so having a community of like-minded professionals where we can share knowledge, brainstorm new ideas, and work towards a common goal is absolutely incredible. If you are interested in learning more about this platform to help impact the future survival of Israel, then you’re in luck! I hope you can join me and the Fashion, Beauty, Retail, & Communications Division of AIPAC for an event Tuesday, September 13th at 7 pm. The location will be shared upon RSVP. To RSVP visit:
