Spring Forward!
Don't you love when we turn our clocks ahead and the days get longer? Sure it's no fun to lose an hour of sleep, but it's well worth it for the months of evening sunset strolls. I, for one, will not miss the 4 PM nightfall. To celebrate the momentous occasion of "springing forward," my husband and I took these photos on the first day in what seems like millions of years that the sun was still shining after 5 PM. Spring is in the air...I can feel it!
So what does one wear to transition into spring when there is still the residual winter chill in the air? Ditch your coat in favor of a heavy cardigan, biker jacket or fur vest--you can always add a cashmere scarf and wool beanie for extra warmth if temperatures are dropping with the sunset. I used to have strict rules about fur in March, but I have become more lax. If it's below 54 degrees and you're going to be out into the evening, I say rock the fur...especially if it's over a lightweight top like a silk blouse or chambray button-down. It's been a long winter hiding our arms under heavy coats and gloves, so celebrate the reemergence of your wrists by wearing a statement cuff or bracelet! Blow the dust off your pumps and loafers as you start to transition your riding boots and those dreaded UGGs to the back of your closet. And don't forget your sunglasses...you'll be needing them!!
