An Ode to Flats
Last week I walked into my OBGYN's office for my 34-week prenatal check up and he breathed a huge sigh of relief and said, "I don't think I've ever seen you in flat shoes. You have us all so worried out there in those heels!" Apparently my choices in footwear are a popular topic in their office; I'll take it as a compliment.
I happened to be wearing my trusty Stuart Weitzman gladiators which have been a saving grace the past month or so. While I normally consider a 3-inch wedge to be a "flat," I've reached a point where I can no longer manage my everyday routine in my signature skyscrapers. My balance is off, my back hurts, and I spend most days chasing a toddler. Although I may have to sacrifice my impractical stilettos and/or platforms, I refuse to succumb to a non-excessive substitute. Lord knows I'd never be caught in "sensible shoes"--the horror!! I suppose knee-high gold gladiator sandals can hold me over in my everyday life for the next few weeks. The Giuseppes will be back on before I can say "Zanotti!"
