A Palm Springs Affair
Sometimes the universe brings people into your life and you know you were destined to be soul sisters. That's how it was when I first met Ali Galgano, founder of the dazzling multi-brand e-commerce jewel box, Charm & Chain. I had never encountered someone who loved rainbows, sparkles, and a fierce smokey eye as much as I do. When Ali asked me to be a part of the campaign for the Charm & Chain brand's debut collection, I was ecstatic. Not surprisingly, both the aesthetic of the jewelry and the concept for the shoot were completely in-line with my adoration of eye-catching accessories influenced by vintage, all-out glamour. The collection is inspired by the 1960's "iconic Hollywood playground" of Palm Springs, referencing "a time when punchy color was ubiquitous" and bikinis and kaftans were paired with lamé turbans and luxurious costume jewels. Since I have a tendency to over-accessorize my swimwear and have a thirst for anything reminiscent of Megan Draper (if you don't know, Google it), this collaboration seemed like a match made in heaven!
The brilliant Marisa Morrison produced and styled the shoot, which was an absolute dream! From each vibrant, graphic, over-the-top outfit to the bewitchingly authentic 60's hair and makeup, to the enchanting lighting and photography, I spent the entire day pinching myself that I got to be a part of such a phenomenal team! The bold jewels operate as a time capsule to transport us back to a time long before Coachella, to a Rat Pack era Palm Springs, filled with posh poolside parties straight out of a Slim Aarons photograph. The pieces are striking, whimsical (hello, flamingo brooch!), and delightfully charming, but still affordable, and they are the perfect addition to elevate your go-to summer frocks! Put on the Eldorado Statement Necklace and you can almost feel the desert heat, hear the jet-setter jazz, and taste the dry gin martini.
