If I'm being perfectly honest, my ideal New Year's Eve would consist of a large pizza and a bottle of red wine on the couch. But inevitably FOMO always sets in and I end up making plans and going out. So in an effort to get myself in a New Year's state of mind, I'm sharing my 5 key ingredients for a successful night.
1. Glitter--sparkle everywhere...on your dress, shoes, and accessories. Why the heck not?
2. Big Hair--the one night I can channel my pageant girl roots and pawn it off as disco glamour. Not into a teased coif? Change up your default mane and do something fun! Maybe try boxer braids or add a cool head piece or even a turban.
3. A Drama-Free Crew--if you can't find one, stay on the couch with the pizza. There's no sense spending time and money for a night that ends in annoyance, or worse, tears. NYE should be reserved for people you actually enjoy--especially if you're spending money to go out. Good friends are really your best accessory to ring in the new year. And sparkling good friends? Even better! Coordinate your outfits for photo ops!
4. Chic Outerwear--so you don't freeze and because the right coat will make an outfit and the wrong one can break it. Nobody does NYE glamour like Pologeorgis, as you can see in these photos.
5. A Flask--because too much champagne gives you a headache and don't you just hate getting ripped off with overpriced cocktails!? Don't forget to drink 7 glasses of water before you pass out. Xoxo
These photos are from a recent shoot with Pologeorgis furs. With an incredible team including Birch Event Designs, Anthony Vazquez Photography, Daria Kalinina on hair, Shlomit B. on makeup, and Marisa Morrison on styling, we channeled Studio 54 disco glamour. If only we could've been flies on the wall at the historical Studio 54 New Year's Eve where 4 tons of glitter added a 4-inch layer on the floor, which owner Ian Schrager described as "standing on stardust." Allegedly, club-goers were still picking glitter off their clothes and homes months later! Sounds like a dream! Happy New Year, my sparkling friends!
