Bridal Excess

In honor of my upcoming 4th wedding anniversary I thought it was only appropriate to do a post on bridal accessories.  In case you couldn't tell by the subject of this blog, I am a huge fan of over-the-top accessories.  On my wedding day in 2009, I struggled to decide between wearing a delicate diamond heirloom or an over-the-top, costume necklace by Vera Wang. I was admonished to "keep it classic"... such a necklace would take away from the elegance of my dress. To choose chunky crystals over diamonds!?! On my wedding day!? Who would do such a thing? In the end, to the shock and horror of many, I chose the oversized costume necklace because it was the choice that exuded individuality and statement-making-style. I have no regrets.

A wedding day is the moment when a bride should feel her most fabulous. If that means delicate diamonds, that's okay, but that just isn't my personal aesthetic. When I think of cementing a moment in time, I think of a top-knot and shoulder-dusting crystal chadelier earrings, not diamond studs.  But again, that's just me.  

I had the privilege of attending the Atelier Pronovias 2014 Collection Fashion Show last night.  Funny enough, my own wedding gown was by Pronovias.  Manufactured in Barcelona with the ultimate attention to intricacy and detail, their work never ceases to amaze me.  The show was exquisite and each gown was more beautiful than the next, but what really caught my eye was the spectatular headpieces in GOLD of all colors! I have never seen a bride look more regal.  (Can I have another wedding and wear one? I'll keep the same husband hehe!) 

In all seriousness, I would love to do my whole wedding over again.  Not the stress and drama leading up to it of course, but the princess part of it.  I'm sure most fashion-loving ladies feel the same way.  Every time I see a new necklace or tiara I think I can't live without I think, "I wish I could be the bride again!"  Having worked with Erickson Beamon for the past two and a half years has only added fuel to the fire.  These are a few of the pieces of briliant bridal excess I dream of my one-year-old daughter wearing one day (I know, I'm sick.)

Because, I don't plan on ever having another wedding, I guess I will just have to incorporate these pieces into my every day life.  After all, my motto is to live each day like it's my wedding day.  I have been known to wear Erickson Beamon tiaras in all sorts of odd places from pizza stores to the labor and delivery ward at Mt. Sinai Hospital.  My only question is, how do I get my hands on one of the Pronovias headpieces!?!
