A Confection of a Coat
Last week there was an Adrienne Landau sample sale in NYC. I said to my friend Lauren, "Let's hit up the sale...I'm on the hunt for candy colored fur." She laughed hysterically and said "Of course you are." I love fur---real or faux, short or long, vest or coat...in every color of the rainbow. Unfortunately I did not have time to make it to the sample sale, so my dreams of pastel pink mink remain dreams.
As you may know from my over-the-knee boot post, Emilio Pucci's Autumn/WInter 2013 is one of my favorite recent collections...I'm particularly obsessed with the colorful furs. The above pink coat on Doutzen Kroes is the definition of a SHOW-STOPPER! I dream about this coat every night.
I also dream about Fendi's Cruise 2013 light blue mink coat. Because everyone wears mink coats on cruises...in pastel colors. Well, if you're Kate Moss you do. (Little known fact: At Fendi in the 60s, Karl Lagerfeld coined the term "Fun Fur" which soon evolved into Fendi's famed double F logo. Video of Karl talking about Fun Fur here for your viewing pleasure.)
Don't have $25,000-$150,000 lying around for your fur confection? You're in luck. This magical pastel ombré faux fur coat by American Retro comes in at under $500. Can we say "holiday necessity!?"
In search of your own Kate-Moss-moment? This blue faux fur pelted coat from ASOS is pretty fun. Fun Faux Fur? Sorry, Karl.
Note: Immediately after I finished writing this I got a text from my mom informing me that there is a fuchsia fox coat hanging in my closet in Fort Worth, Texas that I convinced my dad to buy me for a high school graduation gift (totally normal, no?) and then I guess completely forgot about. How does one forget fuchsia fur? Stay tuned for my reclaiming of said coat.
