Clowning Around
I've always loved the quip, "Never underestimate the power of a good outfit on a bad day," but I say "Never underestimate the power of a sunny outfit on a sad day." I found these pants and though my husband hated them, they called out to me and I had to have them. I figured I'd pair them with a basic solid tee or blouse and my usual big bling for a casual summer look. But then, in one of my self-medicating evenings of red wine, candy, and online shopping, I found this completely fabulous blouse on one of my favorite shopping sites, Storets. My mind immediately went to the pants. Though each garment makes a statement standing alone, together they could be brilliant. When I tried it on, Ira tried to reason with me, "Lizzy, you've taken it too far." I hear this from him often, hence the name, EXCESS. I usually take his opinion into consideration, but I had this feeling that there would be a day where this colorful combo would come in handy. It's been one of the tougher weeks emotionally, and my way of settling my mood comes down to fashion. What we wear is one of the few things in this life we have control over, so why not use that to our advantage? I firmly believe in outfit osmosis. How can I wear this carnival chic look and not smile and giggle? It may not make the emotions or problems go away, but a mood enhancement is always welcomed, even when it's temporary. I find that it's always easier to tackle a stressful or sad time with a smile on my face! Do you have any outfits or accessories that you can count on to perk you up?
