What to wear to greet springtime? Floral dresses, of course. What would Miranda Priestly have to say about that?

Read MoreOne of my favorite parts of fashion is the mix and match game. I love restyling my favorite pieces in innovative ways that feel fresh and cool. This "outside the box" look is full of contradicting elements that work together in harmony. The edgy leather dungarees become a surprising spring staple when worn with a floaty, lace off-the-shoulder blouse. This pairing could work for day or night, but the flannel shirt adds an element of 90's grunge that brings weekend-casual vibes. A simple choker combined with piles of silver Melissa Lovy jewels create an easy glamour that shows "more is more" accessories do not have to look overly contrived or done-up. An "ear party" featuring hoops, a whimsical pretzel stud, and a sleek ear cuff is youthful and fun. The ensemble maintains its downtown edge with the choice of masculine platform brogues.

Spring's sexiest shoe is undoubtedly the knee-high gladiator. With a boho-meets-bondage aesthetic, these strappy sandals feel so modern that it is hard to believe their original roots date back thousands of years. It can be a struggle to style such a statement shoe, so I am presenting four very different ways to wear it that cover ground from casual to cocktail.
Wear for: lunch with girlfriends, a low-key meeting, an outdoor BBQ
Wear for: a charity event, an engagement party, a rehearsal dinner
Wear for: a day at the beach, a music festival, a chic afternoon in the park
Wear for: date night, dinner and drinks with friends, a sexy spring soiree
For a laid-back spring shoe that has a leg up on flat-footed sandals, look no further than the clog. I could't be happier for all of the pin-thin, tall girls and their hippie Birkenstocks, but some of us are petite gals or ladies who simply enjoy a little height with our denim and easy slip dresses. At first glance, that wooden platform may appear heavy, unsteady, or uncomfortable. Au contraire! Wooden clogs were initially conceptualized centuries ago for fieldwork and dancing. This is a shoe you should be able to move in! Although the clog is clunky, and certainly not elegant, there is something subtly sexy about an exposed ankle peeking out beneath a cropped pant. Pair them with an airy mini dress to play up the contrast of a heavy shoe with a light dress or keep it comfy in cuffed boyfriend jeans. Shop my picks below.
Nobody could ever describe me as a wallflower...not in personality and certainly not in appearance. Interestingly enough, I did find one place in the world where I could actually almost blend in while wearing rainbow tie-dye. Last week in Miami, I paid a visit to the much buzzed about Wynwood Walls. I love street art because I love the juxtaposition of artistic expression in unexpected places, like the side of a run-down warehouse. The Wynwood Walls are unique in that they take over an entire district, covering 80,000 square feet of wall space by 50 artists from 16 countries. Whether or not you are a connoisseur of street art, the revitalization of a tattered warehouse district into a "Museum of the Streets" is something worth seeing...and photographing.
