Bib-and-Brace and Bling
Lately I've had a crazy affinity for overalls. It's just hard for me to put on skinny jeans after a day in roomy dungarees, so I find myself wearing this pair as a uniform of sorts, which I guess is appropriate since that is what they were initially intended to be: protective uniforms for railroad workers and farmers. Even though this pair is shapeless and a bit utilitarian, there is something discreetly sexy about it. When I don't feel like getting dressed, but have to be somewhat put together, I can throw these on and basically feel like I'm in sweats. I like to juxtapose the casual overall vibe with a touch of glamour in the add-ons. When I'm with my kids in the neighborhood I can throw them on with moto boots or low-heeled gladiator sandals (I make sure to cuff the pants up more for this pairing), and then I can easily dress them up with disco platforms for a work event or night out.
