Sunday Snaps
A common question I get is how to find a way to marry fashion and function. These are some snaps from my family's day in DUMBO. We spent a fun-filled afternoon riding the magnificent carousel, eating ice cream, and taking in the gorgeous city views. A summer Sunday outing with the kids requires comfort, but that doesn't mean we have to sacrifice style in the name of ease. I just cannot embrace athleisure, though I don't judge those who do. (Okay, maybe I do a little.) A lightweight, loose sundress is breezy and in my opinion, far more comfortable than leggings and an exercise top. I tend to favor a bohemian-inspired look like this pom-pom trimmed dress, but if that's not your thing, you can try a preppy shirtdress or a girly sundress. Flatform espadrilles are a huge trend this summer and you don't have to break the bank to acquire this sandal. They provide the support you need (I promise--I chased my girls in them all day) and add a couple of inches to your frame! Finish the look with a stylish, medium-sized, cross-body bag to carry your essentials while keeping your hands free. You can always add a hat, headband, or statement jewels to enhance the look and add a personal touch, but it works just as well without all the chachkas!
